Prosthodontics is the specialty of implant, aesthetic, cosmetic and restorative dentistry. Prosthodontists are dental experts in this field. They restore oral function through dentures, dental crowns, bridges and dental implant restorations.

Prosthodontists are differentiated from regular dentists by an additional three years of specialised training in the field of prosthodontics. The American College of Prosthodontists states: " Prosthodontists are dental specialists engaged in the restoration and replacement of teeth. A Prosthodontist can aid in the rehabilitation of a complete dentition or merely the replacement of one or two teeth."
