Many patients experience dental phobia and have a fear to the sounds of the dental drill, or to the sight of a needle.

Here at The Dental Studio, we strive to make every experience on the dental chair a pleasant one. Our dentists are always attentive and ready to listen to your fears and concerns.

Modern technologies available at The Dental Studio to help overcome the patients’ fears:

  1. Movie Goggles

If you are afraid of the sound of the drill or the thought of sitting on the dental chair, we provide entertainment goggles to help distract you.

It feels like watching a movie in the cinema, while having your teeth cleaned, or any other dental procedures done. With ear plugs, the sound of the dental drill will be drowned by the sounds of your movie.

  2. IV Sedation

When an anti-anxiety drug, is administered into the blood system, this is referred to as Intravenous Conscious Sedation (aka "IV sedation").
  3. You remain conscious during IV sedation. You will be able to understand and respond to requests. However, you may not remember much about what went on. IV sedation induces a state of deep relaxation and a feeling of not being bothered by what's going on.

The drugs also produce either partial or full memory loss (amnesia) for the period of time when the drug is working. As a result, time will appear to pass very quickly and you will not recall much, of what happened.

If you have a fear of injections, you will not be numbed until the IV sedation has fully kicked in. You will probably be relaxed enough not to care by this stage.

IV Sedation can be done on the dental chair itself, and you would be able to go home after the procedure. It is commonly done for implant surgery, or wisdom tooth surgery, but can be used for any other dental treatment procedures.

Is it safe? Are there any contraindications?

IV sedation is EXTREMELY SAFE when carried out under the supervision of an anesthetist. This anesthetist will be monitoring you throughout the whole dental procedure.

The most commonly used drugs for IV sedation are benzodiazepines.

  4. Painless Injection - THE WAND

    Experience Painless Injections

We know that some patients get nervous at the mere sight of a needle and syringe. The Wand is a revolutionary computer-controlled local anesthesia injection system, that can provide a more comfortable and effective anesthetic delivery. The Wand handpiece resembles a pen.

Often the needle is not what causes the main discomfort of an injection. It is the pressure and volume of the fluid going into the tissues when it is injected too quickly. The computer controlled system allows for a slow even-flow delivery of anesthetic . It eliminates the "bee sting" effect .

The Wand provides painless injections for all routine dental treatment. It doesn't look like a syringe. It doesn't feel like a syringe. And, what's more, it works better than a syringe resulting in a more pleasant experience.
